We stayed over the bank holiday weekend and had an amazing experience. Michelle and Glen were fantastic hosts and so eager to help with anything. We stayed in the barn owl tent with the newly installed log fired hot tub. It's more of a tub than a hot tub compared to the other two tents however it was so much more relaxing and comfortable than the usual hot tubs as you could lie down.It was such a romantic set up with fairy lights, a log burner in the tent and being able to lie under the stars with a loved one.The tent has everything you need with gas burners and utensils outside the tent for private use and also a shared kitchen at the end of the toilet block. You have a private bathroom with toilet and shower. The shower is a tad small however for the time your away this is easy enough to deal with.Really would check out their website and have a look, we will definitely be returning in the near future.

Partner and i stayed here for 2 nights for her birthday. Michelle had kindly left some cakes and put some birthday related things out in the tent which made it more special. The tent, hot tub, outside area, toilet/washroom and kitchen area was all very impressive. Alum house have their own food menu, we had some pizzas they were too spot on.Very ideal if your plan is to go walking as theres loads of footpaths etc on the doorstep.Wasnt a problem for us but if you’re a bigger set human being then you’ll find the shower a bit of a squeeze.I’d certainly go back

We had a fantastic 4 day break at Alum House. Michelle and Glen could not have done more for us. It was our sons 3rd birthday and he was treated to a home made cake, which he loved. We also had homemade food from Michelle - pizzas and nachos, which were lovely. The location is fantastic, very quiet and peaceful. For kids, its pure nature - they can plodge in the river, chase chickens and play pooh sticks from the nearby bridge. The whole place reminded me of 'The Darling Buds of May' TV program :)The tent was warm and cosy, and the private bathroom immaculate. Would definitely visit again. Thanks Michelle and Glen for the memories!

Amazing long weekend away. Host were fantastic and knew would help if anything was wrong but all was perfect and the Glamping set up is just what i was after, couldn't have asked for more. Hot tub was great and the stars on a night crystal clear. Pizzas were delicious. 5 minute drive to park and ride better than parking in Whitby and 5 minutes to Foss Falls. Didn't take many pictures was too busy relaxing and having a tipple. Dog friendly and Zola host dog is so cute and friendly. Thank you.

Our second visit and hopefully won’t be our last. The ‘accommodation’ is comfortable, snug and in the most delightful peaceful setting. The hot tub is a lovely addition to relax in under the night sky and when you’re done there’s the added bonus of your own shower and bathroom. The stone bake pizza are definitely worth a try and your host will deliver them to you. Situated just a short ride to|the coast it’s the perfect retreat.

The accommodation is clean and well though out.
Lovely residents in the form of ducks, chickens and a cute pooch.
Great location for trips out, half way between Whitby and Goathland (Harry Potter and heartbeat fans)
Could have stayed forever ! A real slice of paradise ✨️

positive review This place is wonderful, we had a great weekend staying. Very clean and tidy, it was nice to have our own space around the bell tent. Often sites are busy and packed tightly together.

We would definitely recommend this…

It easily looked after 2 adults, 2 boys and a wee dog..🤩

Good work team, you are doing a great job!

Liked: Literally everything! The couple running the place couldn’t do more for us!! We used the BBQ on the first night, the hot tub on multiple occasions and toasted s’mores on our final night over the fire! The sound of the river is sooo relaxing when getting to sleep and i went home dreaming of the bed! We had the best stay and I couldn’t recommend it more.

Liked: The location was beautiful, it was very clean, it was really quiet, the bell tent was pretty and very comfortable and the hot tub was perfect- there's no WiFi so it's a really great chance to step away from everything

Absolutely stunning location, so quiet we could hear the stream bubbling and the owls hooting in the night, we had the Jenny Wren bell tent with two adults and two children and there was plenty of room. Loads of outside space to run around, the owners are so friendly, and tent itself was so pretty! Clean bathroom with full shower, super comfortable bed too. We told Michelle it was our son's birthday and she very kindly set up balloons and lights for him for a small fee which just made his weekend.Hot tub was very welcome in the evenings once the kids were asleep, we will be back! Definitely recommend.

Absolutely loved this place, such good hospitality, very kind and friendly, and couldn’t do enough for us, we had their homemade pizza on arrival even though we got there quite late, and the hot tub all heated up and ready to jump in, we got extra wood when asked for it too, they really couldn’t do enough for us, the tent was very clean and tidy, and so cozy and I haven't also so well in weeks, and waking to the sound of the stream and bird song well that’s just on another level, we will definitely be going back 😊

Liked: This was like a little corner of paradise. Beautifully quiet, with a soundtrack of just rustling leaves, birdsong and the babbling brook running a short distance behind the tent. Michelle and Glen were lovely hosts, the stone fired pizzas and breakfast baps were delicious. The tent was spacious and nicely furnished. The bed was comfy with lots of extra blankets. The wood fired hot tub was lovely, and the dedicated bathroom for each tent was a nice touch. My only criticism would be the camp beds and sleeping bags provided if there was more than two of you staying didn’t seem in keeping with the standard of the rest of the tent and my kids ended up in the main bed with me, not least for the warmth.Disliked: Beds and bedding for my children.

What a great little hidden gem! Tucked away in little beck, the site is nice and private and has a small stream at the bottom which is really peaceful.Glen and Michelle couldn't be more helpful and went out the way to make you feel welcome. Also don't forget to say hi to the Ducks 😃

positive review Thinking about booking Alum House? DO IT!

It is an absolutely beautiful setting, luxury glamping at its finest. Michelle and Glen are so welcoming and there is very little they haven’t thought of or got covered…if you can think of it, you need only ask!

We stayed in Roe Deer, sunken in its own plot surrounded by trees, wild flowers and neighboured by the gorgeous beck - simply idyllic 💖

Alum House is in a remote location, surrounded by gorgeous countryside walks, cracking scenery and a short drive (or walk if that’s your thing!) to the coast.
